- Hi, I'm having an awful time trying to get my latest Slackware installation being able to access the internet. I've had no trouble in the past. I'm just wondering if my networking card is compatible? I have an Asus Maximus Formula DDR2 mobo using the default inbuilt two ethernet ports. Windows XP (in my other partition) says that I have no problems with it (dxdiag) and I can access the internet fine. System Information tells me that I have a [00000001] 1394 Net Adapter and that its type is Ethernet 802.3 and that it is installed. There are also a load more things underneath that one that look pretty much the same. Thanks! MI Thanks for such good answers so far! I've tried pinging myself and all looks good there but when pinging 74.14.221.104 (google) it doesn't work so I don't think that it's just a nameserver issue. Thanks again guys and any more suggestions would be really welcome! I'm just going to reboot into Windows to try out the other suggestions! Thanks again! Matt. I

- can i install a 32-bit Slackware to my 64 bit PC? i've considered using slamd64 or Bluewhite64 on it instead, but i'm afraid these two have not been thoroughly tested by that many experts. i also considered the fact that not all packages from 32-bit Slackware can be installed in these two branches (esp. Bluewhite64) -- something that is very important to me.

- Hi, I recently installed Slackware Linux on one of my computers. Ironically, the biggest problem that I've had is shutting it down. I can't figure out how to!(and no, I don't have internet on it.)I've tried shutdown -h now, but it won't work. And I've forgotten the password to root. And when I click the end session button in X, shut down is grayed out. And I'm not interested in press Ctrl-Alt-Del and then holding down the power button before Linux starts. What do I do?!?!?
- Hi. I'm using gentoo linux, have two monitors(1280x1024)(1024x768), and am using an NVIDIA GeForce 6600. I use twinview, and it works pretty well, for the most part. The only thing I can't get it to understand is the split between screens. It has this annoying habit of starting things split accross both monitors. I've googled on this subject, and no one seems to have the same problem. I was wondering if there is maybe a line of code that will get the X window system to understand that I want the snap to function between monitors, and don't want things to start there. The thing that really baffles me is that I'm using the same xorg.conf file that I did when I ran slackware, and it got it then. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Soy root

- Linux Distro Question?
- So I have SLAX Server Edition, which is a slackware-based linux distro. SLAX Server has many server tools built into it, however it keeps saying I need to set my IP address. I know I can't just put in some random number, so where would I find the number I need to fill in? Most of the time I'm connected thru a NetGear Super-G wireless router via a CAT5 cable, however somtimes I can be connected directly to a cable modem. What's my IP address?
